Does A Healthy Lifestyle Make A Difference – Community voices are a valuable part of our work, so we celebrate Queenslanders who engage in our programs to be healthy.
We spoke to Peter Button about his experience taking part in the My Health for Life program supported by Health and Wellbeing Queensland.
Does A Healthy Lifestyle Make A Difference
I was at the point where I was sick of living at home, semi-isolated, fat and lazy, and worried about how my health and activity levels were declining with age. I saw others around me talking about old age, loss of energy, bitterness and idleness. So I felt I had to get up and do something.
A Healthy Lifestyle Doesn’t Need To Be ‘all Or Nothing’
I participated in the My Health for Life program. It was a great first step and encouragement for me to realize that I only have one life and to live life to the fullest, enjoying full health and active movement. is possible
It is important to reduce the budgetary demand on health care due to bad attitudes, lazy approach to life and carelessness towards our diet, health and lifestyle. We have a great opportunity to live in a beautiful part of the country with great weather, great food and a great lifestyle. Why waste this opportunity?
I continued my health experience for life by joining Brendel’s Men’s Health program where I was assessed for a full body scan, sessions with a health coach, nutritionist and a 6 week program to develop better diet and exercise. habits. I have lost about 4 kgs in these 6 weeks and so I visit this center 5-6 mornings a week at 5.30 am to take advantage of the full body strength training program. It has helped me lose a total of 16 kg and develop a much more positive and proactive approach to life in the last 6 months. Consequently, I have been busy during my retirement years doing volunteer and unpaid work, advising small businesses, advocating for health care consumers, and applying and developing my skills and knowledge.
I want the common people to accept this challenge and find a new way for the development of a healthy society and the country to make the most of health, to obtain, to develop, to make good use of the opportunity.
