Gifford Woods State Park is another local favorite and offers many hiking trails with beautiful views of the colors of the leaves.

Notch Pass is a must-see in the fall and should be on every aspirational bucket list. Drug Dealers’ Knot Pass Road connects the town of Jeffersonville on the western slopes of Mount Mansfield and the town of Stowe on the east side of the mountain. Notch Trail is very narrow and windy and lined with maple trees that turn beautiful shades of red and gold in the fall.
If you want to stretch your legs, take the Sterling Pool Trail above Knot. It’s a 2.3-mile loop with views of Sterling Lake from the top and is a great place to take in the fall grass in Vermont.

One of my favorite hikes is the 7.3 mile Mansfield Mountain Loop trail that starts at Underhill State Park. Uninterrupted views of the Green Mountain State in all its fall glory, with “color” coming from the mountain and Mount Mansfield.

The city is located on the banks of Otter Creek, which is especially beautiful in the fall. Visitors can view Otter Creek Falls and the historic building from Vergennes Falls Park.
Goat National Park is home to the 165-foot-tall Goat Valley, Vermont’s deepest canyon, carved by glacial activity 13,000 years ago. The valley covered with maple trees on both sides offers a spectacular view of the falls of the Ottuke River. Visitors can enter the canyon via the 2.7-mile drive through Goat Canyon, and the state park has overnight parking.
Somerset Reservoir is a large reservoir located in the Green Mountain National Forest in southern Vermont. A quiet and unspoiled place to explore and see Vermont’s fall colors. Take your kayak or paddle boat out on the water and watch for moose, ducks, deer, elk or black bears, or hike one of the many nearby hiking trails.
